Rock For Choice was founded in 1991 by L7 and The Feminist Majority. It was started to encourage the music community and young people to raise their voice and stand up for reproductive freedom. The First Rock For Choice concert took place on October 25, 1991 at the Palace in Los Angeles. It featured Nirvana, Hole, L7, and Sister Double Happiness. The show sold out, raising $15,000 for Rock For Choice. The money raised by Rock For Choice goes to the Feminist Majority's Becky Bell/Rosie Jamenez Campaing to lift parental consent laws and federal funding restrictions. A portion of the money also goes to the Foundation's National Clinic Defense Project and Emergency Clinic Survival Fund. These organizations both help women's health clinics, doctors, workers, and patients who are put in danger by anti-abortion extremists.

"You can go quietly or you can Rock For Choice!"
